Drew Review - Poggio
I want everyone to truly understand and to know
There is a restaurant where service is paramount the restaurant I speak of
is the pristine Poggio
In Sausalito beautiful ambiance romantic so it’s the place you don’t want to go to alone
If you do there’s a nice marble bar, and the restaurant is right next
to the lovely Casa Madrone
Let’s say you go to Poggio and you want to give your date a little kiss
Before you do you might want to look at the extended wine list.
Then you can go back to the things that really matter
And yes Poggio is often busy so around you there will be some chatter.
But let’s face it when there is a nice restaurant there’s always a bit of buzz
And nobody delivers on service, presentation, ambiance and good food like Poggio does.
So the things that I say carry a little more clout
Let me go into detail and exactly what I’m talking about
As mentioned earlier in terms of service which in most places is pretty lean
But Poggio has the master of service - General Manager Umberto Gibin
Meeting you with a smile and style all his own
He can make you feel wanted and cared for while even on the telephone.
The presentation of the food is beautiful - at least that’s what my date says
Why wouldn’t it be with at the helm Executive Chef Christopher Fernandez.
The food itself is high quality I don’t think they even think about the low
I had the very delicious Dungeness crab, leek and tomato risotto.
My date actually really didn’t know what to do
She first had the Honey Roasted Figs and then when on to have the
Spinach Ricotta Gnocchi with Beef ragu.
I have to tell you honestly I’ve been to this restaurant more than twice
The food is really good and ambiance beyond nice.
The restaurant’s beautiful and the people sincere, not phony
If you go to the bar and say hello to the Italian Albert Einstein his real name is Tony.
So to sum it all up, whether you’re a veteran or a culinary beginner
Poggio in Sausalito is exceptional and for this reviewer an absolute winner.
